St Andrew's Cathedral School

Academic scholarships

Our experience shows receiving a scholarship builds responsible attitudes, develops leadership potential and enables students to take a positive role in school life.

St Andrew’s Cathedral School offers a number of Academic scholarships each year (at a range of discount levels from 10 per cent through to 100 per cent off Tuition Fees) to students entering Years 5 to 6, Year 7 and Year 11. Academic scholarships are open to students presently enrolled at the school and to students wishing to enter St Andrew’s Cathedral School. The School expects all Academic Scholarship holders to display a high standard of achievement and to take a full and constructive role in school life.

The Junior School academic scholarship (Years 5 and 6) applications close in April, the year before entry. Shortlisted students are interviewed by a panel that generally includes the Head of Junior School and a member of the Gifted and Talented Education Programme staff. An application fee of $110 applies for those students shortlisted for an interview.

To Apply: Please complete the 2023 Junior School Academic Scholarship Form and email it with all relevant documentation to: Mr Bruce Perry, Registrar bperry@sacs.nsw.edu.au

The Year 7 academic scholarship testing is conducted by ACER. Applications are welcome from Term 4 when students are in Year 5 to early Term 1, Year 6 (usually very early February, the year prior to entering Year 7.) The test requires students to demonstrate a range of skills such as the ability to interpret, infer, deduce and think critically. It is not curriculum-based and does not test the ability to retrieve learned knowledge.

To Apply: All applicants for Year 7 Academic Scholarships must sit the ACER Scholarship Test and submit their application directly to the ACER website.

  • Applications close: midnight (12am): TBC

Any student who applies for the Claremont Scholarship, and is not offered it, will automatically be added to the normal 2023 Year 7 Academic Scholarship process, and will not be required to sit another test.

To Apply: For Year 7, 2023, please complete the Application for Claremont Scholarship form and return it with all relevant documentation. An exam to assess applicants will be held at Claremont College in late February/early March 2022.
