The SACS Association of Parents and Friends (P&F) is a vibrant group of parents and carers who are committed to building a strong school community, and to raising additional funds to support our school and students. The P&F hold fun community (friend-raising) and fundraising events throughout the school year.

We have a busy calendar for 2022 and are looking forward to welcoming parents from all year groups. Please read our regular P&F newsletter for updates and more detailed information.
Each year the P&F creates a magnetic calendar for families with all the key dates, to help plan for those ‘cannot be missed’ events.

General meetings
The P&F meet regularly across the year and all our parents and carers are encouraged to attend. These meetings are a great opportunity to gain an insight into what is happening at the School. Matters as diverse as curriculum, student welfare, development at the School and topical issues of the day that affect our school and community are addressed by a senior staff member or special guests.
Across the year there are four P&F Presents evenings. These are gatherings where a specific subject area of interest to parents will be discussed usually with a panel of invited speakers. Parents will have the opportunity to participate in these discussions and pose questions to the panel.
The P&F meetings are held throughout the year on Tuesday nights at 6pm in the Community Hub on Level 4, St Andrew’s House. If there are COVID restrictions in place, an alternative venue or online link will be advertised.
Year group functions
The P&F also supports get-togethers and functions for each year group. These gatherings are organised by our Parent Convenors and provide opportunities for parents to meet informally, develop friendships and link with other families. These social events are vital in a school that draws students from over 230 postcodes around Sydney.
Fundraising
As a fundraising entity, the P&F has previously raised funds for a school bus, portable stage, Chapter House, Kirrikee, audio-visual equipment and a range of educational items, student welfare initiatives and facilities. All parents are encouraged to pay a small membership fee of $80 to the Association to offset administrative costs.
The work of the P&F relies completely on the input of volunteers drawn from the school community.
Many warm, lifelong friendships are made, not only among the students of the school, but also within the parent community through their involvement in the P&F and its fundraising.
We look forward to welcoming you and getting to know you.

Parent Convenors
The concept of the Convenor was established in 1999 to generate closer communication between parents in each respective year, and to build closer communication with the School.
The Convenors at St Andrew’s Cathedral School (SACS) play a vital role in providing opportunities for parents to meet, develop friendships and link with other families in their year group. As a city centre school, parents and families are located in over 230 suburbs. Our Convenors help foster a greater sense of community.
It is a great way to be part of the community, meet new friends and enjoy your time at the School. Convenors make a huge difference to everyone’s school experience. Convenors and P&F volunteers report that it is a thoroughly rewarding experience and one that creates life-long friendships with other families. These parents are literally the “glue” that holds our community together. We look towards building on the existing culture that our parents have created, which is founded on enthusiasm, openness, warmth and friendship.
Any parents at St Andrew’s Cathedral School. We encourage two to three for each year group Years 7-12; and each class in K-6.
Convenors work together to:
- welcome families in your class or year group
- enable parents in your cohort to get to know each other
- arrange simple and fun social/connecting occasions
- enhance communication between parents, the P&F, and the School
- support P&F friend-raising and fundraising activities
- attend P&F meetings whenever possible
Convenors also manage the year group Facebook groups which are an easy way to communicate with parents in your year group.
Once year convenors have volunteered for 2022, we will put a full list on this webpage and their contact details will be available through the Parent Portal. If you have any questions, please email the P&F at P&F@sacs.nsw.edu.au or community@sacs.nsw.edu.au.
